Dental implants can be used to address cases involving single as well as multiple missing teeth. As is the case with the former, these procedures – depending upon the cause of tooth loss and the extent of the damage – can usually be done in-office, in a single dental appointment and typically with the usual local anesthetic (novacain).
Multiple Tooth Loss
The most common cause of multiple tooth loss and the need for multiple dental implants is gum disease and tooth decay.
Multiple Dental Implants Procedures
Our qualified and experienced implant dentist, Dr. Alan Wolcott, will first need to see you for a screening before your exact course of treatment will be decided upon. It is quickly becoming the standard that a CBCT is used to determine the volume of bone for proper planning. Should you suffer from advanced periodontal (gum) disease and rampant tooth loss, you may be considered a candidate for “All-On-4” dental implants. If, however, you’ve only lost a few of your teeth and the remainders are healthy, Dr. Wolcott may opt to place tooth implants only where necessary. Multiple adjacent missing teeth are usually addressed with an implant-supported bridge.
Once again, you will need to book yourself a screening so that your unique case can be determined and an appropriate treatment plan arrived at. Dr. Wolcott will prioritize treatments with the most urgent treatments first making your treatments in as few appointments as possible. You can also rest assured that you will be handled most gently and that all measures to keep you comfortable and completely pain-free will be taken.
