Single Dental Implant

Single dental implant procedures are extremely simple and, in almost all cases, can be completed in one sitting. One needs little more than a local anesthetic, but if you suffer from anxiety and fear associated with dental treatment, Dr. Alan Wolcott will be more than happy to arrange a mild sedative for you. The associated risks and complications of single dental implant placement are minimal, especially since our office makes use of 3-D Cone Beam CT scans, which provide Dr. Wolcott with high-resolution X-ray images of a patients tooth orientation and jawbone structure. This enables our team of specialists to create detailed and extremely safe treatment plans prior to surgery.

What is involved in Single Dental Implant Placement?

Single Dental Implant

The area where the implant is to be placed will be numbed so that you are completely comfortable throughout the course of your procedure. Dr. Wolcott will then prepare the area for the implant by removing a failed tooth if necessary and will place a small channel where the implant is to go. Once this has been done, a tiny titanium implant will be carefully placed and occasionally a few stitches will be placed as well.

An aesthetic and natural-looking ceramic tooth crown will be fitted to the abutment of the implant. This will be your temporary replacement tooth while your jaw heals to keep you smiling.

Most patients report feeling entirely back to normal within a day or two. After a few weeks, you will be required to return to our office to have your permanent tooth crown fitted. With proper care, your new crown should last you many, many years.
